Accuracy of Techniques for Predicting Gas Production by Ruminants Associated with Diet
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this study was to compare the gas production profiles and nutrient degradability two diets using automatic semiautomatic in vitro techniques. A randomized block design a 2 × factorial arrangement adopted, with comprising different proportions nonfiber carbohydrates (NFCs) (low-NFC vs. high-NFC diets), measurement techniques (automatic semiautomatic) four replicates. blocks represent three runs. Gas from fermentation fiber (Vf2) 22% higher when measured technique than technique. Vt low-NFC diet differed between 22.9% highly positive correlation (r = 0.96) observed techniques, high coefficient determination (R2 0.93). There greater dry matter (DMD) organic (OMD) In both diets, crude protein (CPD) (p < 0.0001). resulted lower pH NH3-N incubation medium that diet, whereas DM, OM CP increased. semi-automatic similarly estimated kinetic parameters total production, demonstrating potential for assessing nutritional value NFCs.

Two forage species alfalfa (Medicago sativa), and sainfoin (Onobrychis viciifolia Scop.), at two consecutive growing season (spring and summer), were studied for their chemical composition and in vitro gas production characteristics. Data on cumulative gas production (mL gas/g DM) were fitted to the non-sigmoidal model, and for evaluation of model, the concordance correlation coefficient (CCC) ...
متن کاملPredicting Forage Intake by Grazing Ruminants
Determination of the amount eaten and characteristics of the diet of grazing ruminants remains one of the most difficult tasks in research. While several lifetimes have been devoted to developing techniques to ‘measure’ intake and diet quality, they are laborious, expensive, and often lack both precision and accuracy. Hence, there has been little effort on the part of producers or consultants t...
